Rural Development: Efforts for village-level poverty reduction

The Achievement Ceremony of Scaling Up Village-Level Poverty Reduction among LMC Countries in Delta Region, was held at Ohn Pin Su Village in Nyaungdon Township of Ayeyawady Region, on Thursday.

The project was implemented under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund 2024. Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein attended the ceremony and made a speech. The Union Minister said the government is supporting rural communities by improving traditional livelihoods, promoting modern farming and livestock activities, and encouraging value-added production based on local agricultural products.

He also highlighted the importance of environmental protection and proper waste management to develop clean, green and smart villages. He called on local residents to maintain and take ownership of the facilities and activities provided under the project. The Union Minister and party later inspected the project facilities and documentary photo exhibition. The project, implemented by the Department of Rural Development, addressed major needs of the village and benefited 180 households and 726 people.
