Viet Nam now ASEAN’s second-top air travel market

Viet Nam has overtaken Thailand to become Southeast Asia's second-largest commercial aviation market by available seats in August, according to aviation data provider OAG. Viet Nam recorded 7.3 million seats, up 10% year on year, the fastest growth among the region’s major aviation markets.

Indonesia remained the largest with 11 million seats, while Thailand ranked third with 7.2 million. The growth comes as passenger traffic through Vietnamese airports continues to rise. More than 76 million passengers travelled through the country’s airports in the first seven months, up 7% year on year, with international traffic rising by more than 11%.
