Sports and Physical Education: Women Football Academy in Mandalay

Union Minister for Women Affairs Dr Thet Thet Zin, together with the Patron of Mandalay Region Women Affairs Association and officials, visited Women Football Academy (Mandalay) in Chanmyathazi Township on Sunday.

During the meeting with athletes, the Union Minister said as the Academy is teaching both academic and sports, it is necessary to strive to become outstanding in education and sports, adding her belief to emerge outstanding women football players. The Secretary of Myanmar Football Federation also presented matters regarding the opening of the Academy, teaching status, provisions of FIFA and future plans.

During the visit, school uniforms and sport wears were provided for the athletes. The Women’s Football Academy currently provides education for 51 students from Grade-5 to Grade-9. The academy was established with support from FIFA and under the leadership of the Myanmar Football Federation. Based on age groups, 25 players are enrolled in the U-12/ U-13 category and 26 players in the U-14/ U-15 category, making a total of 51 players.
