Clarification on Hydropower Project: Ayeyawady-Myitsone Hydropower Project clarified

A clarification and discussion session regarding information related to the Ayeyawady-Myitsone River Basin Hydropower Project was held Tuesday at the Banque Hall of the State Hluttaw Office, where members of the Local Committee provided briefings to Kachin State Hluttaw representatives.

During the session, U Teint Saung , leader of the State Local Committee, explained the committee's ongoing activities and the information to be discussed. Then, committee member Dr. Aung Win, the State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, presented information on major earthquakes and geological findings related to Myanmar.

Following this, committee members provided clarifications by sector. The attending state Hluttaw representatives raised questions regarding the hydropower project, and the committee members responded with further clarifications. Afterward, the State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan stated that everyone is already aware that electricity is an essential need in today's technological era.

He emphasized that they must make correct decisions for the benefit of future generations, ensuring they can enjoy modern and systematic development, and that everyone must work together in the right direction with a vision for a better future. In addition, the Kachin State Chief Minister's Cup Multi-Ethnic National Football Tournament final and award ceremony, which included all ethnic groups residing in Kachin State including the six Kachin groups, five Shan groups, as well as Bamar, Rakhine, Chin, Kayin, Naga, and other ethnic nationalities was held on August 10 at the State Football Ground, with vibrant traditional ethnic cultural dance performances.

In the final match, the Jinghpaw team competed against the Tai Laing team, with Jinghpaw winning 4-0. At the award ceremony, State ministers and the State Chief Justice presented individual medals and cash prizes to the best players and the third-place and runner-up teams. The State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan presented individual medals, a cash prize of 3 million kyats, and a champion trophy to the first-place winner, the Jinghpaw team, it’s reported.
