Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency launched an H3 rocket from Tanegashima Space Center, carrying a Michibiki 7 navigation satellite system on Tuesday morning.

Michibiki satellites transmit positioning signals. Five of them are currently in operation, orbiting over Japan. They provide improved positioning information for smartphones and help deliver earthquake alerts in areas where the reception is poor. The government plans to operate the system with six satellites, one fewer than the initial plan.
