Floods in India's northeast kill nearly 100

At least 97 people have died and nearly 170,000 have been affected by flooding in India’s Assam state. Thousands have been displaced to temporary shelters as swollen rivers inundate homes and farmland. Many people remain missing, with concerns that some may be trapped under debris and silt.

The response is shifting from immediate relief to early recovery, including shelter repairs, debris clearance, household supplies, livelihood assistance, water and sanitation services, and health and psychosocial support.
