Final count confirms 5 dead in Indonesia ferry fire

The Indonesian navy recovered the bodies of victims after a passenger ferry caught fire off Java over the weekend.

Officials said Tuesday that all survivors have been accounted for, confirming five dead in the incident. There were 236 people on board the vessel when it left Indonesia's second-largest city, Surabaya, for Makassar on Sulawesi Island on Sunday morning. As of Monday, 229 people had been rescued alive and five bodies were recovered. A police official said a rescue ship was deployed Monday to carry out a final search and should return to shore Tuesday morning.
