Sports Sector : Level-1 Taekwondo Coaching Course

Taekwondo is an Olympic sport that develops physical fitness, speed, balance, discipline, respect, perseverance and self-control. Under the Olympic Solidarity Programme, Level-1 Taekwondo Coaching Course was opened at the Gold Camp Sports Training Centre in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday. 

Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee and Union Minister for Sports U Ye Myint Tun stated that coaches play a vital role in achieving success at international competitions, age-group events, and the upcoming 34th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia.

He therefore stressed the qualified, skilled coaches are extremely important as they are responsible for merely training athletes to win, but systematically nurturing their basic techniques, discipline, confidence, and positive mindset, emphasizing that proper foundational technique serves as the bedrock of success and significantly reduces the risk of injury.

Next, Professor Jun Cheol Yoon, Chairman of the Poomsae Referee Committee for World Taekwondo, stated that the training course will primarily focus on Taekwondo Poomsae to support preparation for the upcoming 34th Southeast Asian Games. It’s reported that a total of 38 trainees is attending this 5-day training course.
