Bestselling Japanese novelist Higashino Keigo dies at 68

Japanese bestselling mystery novelist Higashino Keigo has died at the age of 68, his publishers announced.

Higashino, known for works including the “Detective Galileo,” “Detective Kaga” and “Masquerade” series, died of colorectal cancer on July 23. He made his literary debut in 1985 with “Hokago” and won the Naoki Prize in 2006 for “The Devotion of Suspect X.” His works have sold around 109 million copies in Japan and been published in 41 countries and regions.
