Panama and China concluded two days of technical talks in Beijing with progress toward renewing the Maritime Transport Agreement, an instrument that governs bilateral relations and grants favorable conditions to Panamanian-flagged vessels in Chinese ports.

Delegations from both countries met and the parties “reached a consensus on the relevant issues” and will proceed with the procedures to renew the agreement. The announcement represents a step in the dialogue process between the two governments.
