The Japanese government has decided to provide Cambodia with defense equipment under its security assistance framework. A signing ceremony was held on Sunday at Cambodia’s defense ministry. It was attended by Japan’s Ambassador to Cambodia Ueno Atsushi and Cambodia’s Defence Minister Tea Seiha.

Official Security Assistance, or OSA, seeks to deepen security cooperation with like-minded countries by offering defense equipment and other materials. This will be the first provision to Cambodia under the program. Japan plans to provide communication devices and patrol boats worth 500 million yen, or about 3 million dollars.
