Indian Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday that India-Japan discussions on Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed bullet train are progressing well. Japan will provide the E-20 train series but only in the early 2030s. To get the high-speed rail network operational as early as possible, both governments have agreed to launch services using Indian-built high-speed trains.

Construction is advancing rapidly, with the project approximately 80% complete. The 508-km corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to about 2 hours.
