Pyithu Hluttaw Session : 23rd day of Second Regular Session held

The 23rd day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw was held at 10:00 a.m. on July 15 in the Pyithu Hluttaw Meeting Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Of the 351 parliamentary representatives entitled to attend, 346 were present.

In accordance with the agenda, the Hluttaw began its question-and-answer session, during which a total of six questions were raised, including whether there are plans to upgrade the Law Khun–Mu Lay–Tein Kham–Faik Kan road section in Hsipaw Township into a concrete road asked by U Kaung Thet San, representative for Hsipaw Constituency, whether there are plans to construct a concrete bridge across Pan Yan Taw Creek on 109th Street, between 55th and 56th Streets, in Chanmyathazi Township asked by U Ko Ko Oo, representative for Chanmyathazi Constituency, whether there are plans to raise the elevation of approximately three furlongs of road extending from the western side of the Innma Creek Bridge into Thegone Township asked by Daw Ohmma Moe Moe Zaw, representative for Thegone Constituency, whether there are plans to upgrade the village-to-village road west of Kanyutkwin Town into a concrete road asked by U Myint Zaw Lin, representative for Phyu Constituency, during which fiscal year the upgrading of six lane roads in Ward No. 7, Minhla Township, into concrete roads would be carried out asked by U Ye Htut Aung, representative for Minhla Constituency, and whether there are plans to expedite the completion of the Thabaung–Yenanta Road in Thabaung Township asked by U Maung Maung Soe, representative for Thabaung Constituency.

The six questions were answered by Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant.

The Hluttaw then continued its discussion of a proposal submitted by Dr. Htein Win, representative for Kyaunggone Constituency, urging the Union Government to establish a National Population and Development Commission. The proposal stated that such a commission is necessary to systematically and effectively manage statistical data obtained from the Population and Housing Censuses and to formulate and implement strategic policies for the country's social development.

The proposal was discussed by U Soe Paing, representative for Wuntho Constituency; U Aung Ko Lat, representative for Tamu Constituency; Dr. Htay Win, representative for Ingapu Constituency; Dr. Kyaw Swe, representative for Taungdwingyi Constituency; and U Moe Tin, representative for Setoktara Constituency.
