A capacity-building training course for Hluttaw representatives related to the Public Accounts Committee was held Tuesday afternoon at the B-Annex training hall of the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw. Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi delivered the opening address.

He emphasized that through this training course, participants should strive to enhance the role of the Hluttaw. He noted that the Public Accounts Committee, as one of the important standing committees, plays a crucial role in ensuring effective management of public funds and promoting good governance.

Therefore, this training is of utmost importance. He highlighted that Public Accounts Committees in international parliaments are recognized as essential mechanisms for promoting Transparency, Accountability, and Good Governance. He stressed that the Public Accounts Committee must work to create a strong and robust Hluttaw and contribute to good governance and the long-term sustainable development of the State.

Following his address, U Thu Rein Zaw, who previously served as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of National Planning and Finance and was Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (serving as representative for Kawkareik Constituency) in the First Pyithu Hluttaw, delivered a lecture and discussion.

Subsequently, attending Hluttaw representatives raised questions and sought clarifications on the topics covered in the lecture regarding the formation and functions of the Public Accounts Committee. Earlier in the morning, Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi received a donation of 50 copies of a book titled "The 2008 Constitution and Its Essence," compiled based on information from records of the National Convention, the 1947 Constitution, and the 1974 Constitution.

The books were donated by former Tanintharyi Region Advocate General U Ohn Than for the reading of Pyithu Hluttaw representatives and staff. The Speaker accepted the donation, expressed his gratitude, and presented a certificate of honor in return, it’s reported.
