Electricity Supply: 15MW Solar Power Plant opens in Nay Pyi Taw

A new 15-megawatt solar power plant was opened in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday, and has begun supplying electricity to the National Grid.

The project was developed by Golden City Solar Power Co., Ltd. and includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to help provide a more stable electricity supply.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin said the government is working to increase electricity generation through solar and other energy sources to meet growing demand.

The Union Minister and party also inspected the site for the project's planned Phase-2 for 25MW facility and Phase-3 for 30MW facility, which are expected to further boost power generation.
