Tour in Pyin Oo Lwin: Efforts for development of Pyin Oo Lwin

President U Min Aung Hlaing met with the townselders from Pyin Oo Lwin Township at the briefing hall of the National Kandawgyi Gardens on Friday.

In his remarks, the President stressed to maintain and shoulder the Pyin Oo Lwin's noble historical legacy for future generations. With the advancement of different eras, the socio-economic status of the citizens and infrastructure have progressively evolved.

The President said Pyin Oo Lwin is renowned for its distinctive natural environment and pleasant surroundings, and urged local residents to continue safeguarding and upholding the city's valuable traditions and enduring heritage.

He emphasized that urban development and population growth have led to a decline in forest coverage within the region. Efforts are underway to restore it through large-scale planting of suitable tree species, preserving the reputation of the region as both the "Cherry City" and the "Flower City." Initiatives are also being implemented to promote Pyin Oo Lwin as a Green City, Health City, and Coffee City.

The region's coffee has already earned a strong demand in domestic and international markets. As a region which has a long-standing education tradition, Pyin Oo Lwin is recognized as an education hub.

The President urged the collective efforts of all stakeholders to preserve the region and uphold its tradition of warm hospitality, while promoting sustainable growth in tourism.

The attendees presented reports on region development measures, requisite assistance for the damaged infrastructure and sports facilities, as well as the needs for the growth of agricultural enterprises within the region. Upon reports, the president assured to support necessary assistance in respective sectors, encouraged to accelerate manufacturing enterprises and instructed on sufficient drinking water access and water resource management. He also emphasized on cleanliness, regional stability and security measures.

After the meeting, the President made a tour around the gardens, oversaw the greening measures, condition of the Siberian cedar sapling, presented by the Novosibirsk Regional Government as a symbol of its commitment to strengthen bilateral friendship and cherry plantations planted to mark the centenary of the National Kandawgyi Gardens.

The President and party also visited Pyin Oo Lwin District Sports Ground, inspected the designated site to construct swimming pool and provided necessary instructions.
