









A coordination meeting on the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway Project and the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the meeting and made a speech.
In his remarks, the President said the land and maritime routes linking to the neighbouring countries support for border crossings and trade activities. He added that the government is committed to completing the strategically important highway projects linking Myanmar with neighboring countries during its term, calling on relevant agencies to accelerate implementation in their respective sectors.
He also pointed out that the border trade activities have to be implemented between the two governments, based on friendly people-to-people exchange, contributing to the better relations among the people in border area, while supporting to security, peace and stability.
He called for systematic implementation of the strategic projects for the benefits of national development and bilateral relations. Attendees presented updates on the India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway Project and the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, including the backgrounds, implementation progress, funding, routes, and expected benefits.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of the projects for improving regional connectivity, trade, investment, and economic cooperation among Myanmar, India, Thailand, and neighboring countries. The meeting also discussed the development of the Sittwe–Kaladan Port, the Paletwa–Zorampur road project, highway sections, bridges, border facilities, and cooperation frameworks for passenger and cargo transport.
The President concluded that opening border gates for official trade would contribute to national development and stressed the need to ensure security before construction activities continue. He also called for proper maintenance of roads, prevention of illegal trade, and compliance with construction standards.
