






Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received the Chin State Hluttaw Speaker U Kawl Lian Htan, Deputy Speaker U Thant Sin Oo, and representatives of the Chin State Hluttaw, who had come to observe the 19th day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw, at the reception hall of the Pyithu Hluttaw building Monday afternoon.
During the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker explained that, under the 2008 Constitution, Union-level Hluttaws enact laws on matters listed in Schedule One, while Region and State Hluttaws legislate on matters set out in Schedule Two. He noted that Region and State Hluttaws play a key role in achieving the national objective of building a federal democratic system.
He further stated that the Union-level Hluttaws and the Region and State Hluttaws are constitutionally established as separate and independent legislative bodies with their own law-making powers.
To facilitate coordination between the Union-level Hluttaws and the Region and State Hluttaws, the Myanmar Parliamentary Union (MPU) Law has been enacted, and the Myanmar Parliamentary Union (MPU) has been established. The Speaker of the Chin State Hluttaw then briefed those present on the conduct of the State Hluttaw's sessions and its future plans. Also attending the meeting together with the Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw were Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn and officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office, it’s reported.
