






Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than met with the members of MSME Agency within Yangon on Saturday.
During the meeting held at the Yangon Region Government Office, the Union Minister stated country’s efforts for MSME development.
The Union Minister appreciated the local MSME businesses which are the crucial driving force of the country’s economic sector, creating job opportunities and regional development in an effort to reduce poverty as well as implementing innovation and socio-economic equality.
As MSMEs stand as economic backbone of a country, the Union Minister urged all to strive for building MSME-centered value chain in Myanmar, exporting value added agricultural products to international markets for the development of both region and the country’s economy.
He added that MSME development is not just an economic policy but a people-centered national development strategy.
The Union Minister called for continuous implementation of working processes to develop industrialization with a people-centered approach, promote industrial based MSME businesses, and build a competitive economic environment for the country based on MSME businesses.
The Yangon Region Chief Minister, Chairperson of Yangon Region MSME Agency and attendees reported on the current and future work plans in collaboration with related departments and private organizations for the development of MSME sector.
