IEA says 'unconditionally' re-opening Hormuz vital to end energy crisis

The head of the International Energy Agency has called for the “unconditional” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, saying it is essential to restoring global oil and gas flows and easing price pressures. The Executive Director of the agency, said reopening the route is the most important step to stabilise energy markets and allow energy shipments to resume. 

Fatih Birol, Executive director, International Energy Agency said  "Single most important solution to this problem is the fully and unconditionally opening up of Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

He added that he hopes international efforts will lead to the rapid resumption of shipping through the waterway.
