








Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Than Maung met with representatives from ethnic literature and cultural associations within the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, on Wednesday afternoon at the Union Minister’s Office, in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, Union Minister U Than Maung stated that peace is the most important factor for national development. He said that only when there is peace can regional development activities be carried out more effectively, and that the development of the nation is essentially the development of the ethnic nationalities.
He also encouraged the ethnic literature and cultural associations to openly discuss and present the difficulties and needs they encounter in carrying out literature and cultural development activities. Next, the Deputy Minister reviewed and discussed presentations related to regional development matters concerning ethnic literature and cultural associations within the Union Territory of Nay Pyi Taw, issues concerning the registration of literature and cultural associations, matters related to the promotion and preservation of ethnic literature, the appointment of teachers for ethnic language and literature instruction (TA/LT), and opportunities for attending vocational training courses.
Afterward, attendees held general discussions, and the Union Minister coordinated and addressed the submitted matters. In order to further preserve and promote ethnic literature and cultural affairs, the Union Minister and Deputy Minister presented financial assistance and commemorative gifts to 10 ethnic literature and cultural associations within the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
