Renovation Works of Museum: Renovation works of Gen. Aung San Museum almost done

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, together with responsible officials, visited and inspected the General Aung San Museum (Yangon) under the Department of Archaeology and National Museum on the afternoon of 7th June.

Officials separately explained the current status and completion progress of the ongoing works. The Union Minister said that during the Head of State’s visit to Yangon Region, guidance had been given to carry out major renovation and conservation work at the General Aung San Museum (Yangon).

He added that the Buildings Department began the major renovation and preservation work on 13 November 2025, and that the work is now nearly 100 percent complete. He further stated that by the upcoming Martyrs’ Day, the museum would be able to display expanded exhibition halls and preservation works carried out to strengthen the structure while maintaining its original architectural style and heritage value.

The Union Minister then inspected the renovation and maintenance works at the General Aung San Museum (Yangon) and gave necessary instructions and guidance where required, it’s reported.
