Crackdown on Online Frauds: Demolishing illegal buildings in Shwe Kokko

Authorities continued demolishing illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko area of Myawaddy Township, Kayin State, which were used for online scam and illegal gambling activities. Three more illegal 3-story buildings were destroyed using machinery on Saturday.

These buildings were part of a total of 77 structures identified for demolition. So far, 39 buildings have been demolished, and the remaining buildings will continue to be removed in an organized way. The government said the crackdown on online fraud and illegal gambling is a national priority and is being carried out with cooperation from local and neighboring countries to ensure such activities cannot operate in Myanmar.
