Sri Lankan devotees on Saturday celebrated Vesak, the holiest Buddhist festival marking the Buddha’s birth by transforming the island into a glowing sea of lights.

The celebrations featured deeply moving spiritual and community traditions that unite people across the country. The government officially declares a National Vesak Week, with major state events and exhibitions. Devotees dressed in white to visit temples for meditation, sermons, and offerings. They also participate in "Bhakti Gee" also known as Buddhist devotional singing events.
