





Across Myanmar, Buddhist devotees marked the Maha Samaya Day by visiting pagodas, offering alms, observing Buddhist precepts, listening to sermons, and participating in merit-making activities.
At Shwedagon Pagoda, the annual procession around the sacred pagoda took place on Saturday, the Full Moon Day of Nayon.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu and officials participated in religious ceremonies, offering flowers, water, and oil lamps. This was followed by a clockwise devotional procession around the pagoda, starting from the Chanthagyi Hall gathering point.
Maha Samaya Day, observed on the full moon day of Nayon in the Myanmar calendar, commemorates the Buddha’s delivery of the Maha Samaya Sutta, a discourse preached to a great assembly of monks and celestial beings. The occasion is regarded as a day of harmony, peace, and unity within the Buddhist community.
