Rescuers find five men trapped in Laos cave

Rescuers have found five of seven men trapped inside a flooded cave in Laos after a week-long search in dangerous conditions. Footage released on Wednesday showed the men huddled together in a narrow chamber around 300 metres from the cave entrance in Xaysomboun province, northeast of Vientiane.

The group has not yet been evacuated due to flooding and the risk of cave collapse.  Rescue teams said extracting the group remains dangerous, with divers forced to navigate narrow, flooded passages and near-zero visibility conditions inside the cave. Two other people thought to have entered the cave are still missing.
