




Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru on Thursday signed the Santiago Commitment, a regional agreement and joint action plan to combat transnational organized crime through enhanced intelligence, police collaboration, and border control.
As this agreement builds on a wider wave of regional security cooperation, the South American nations coordinated sharing of data between intelligence services, prosecutors, and police forces. Brazil recently partnered with INTERPOL to lead an Amazon-focused cross-border task force and launched a $2 billion "Brazil Against Organized Crime" plan.
