Japan and the Philippines have officially launched on Thursday negotiations for a bilateral intelligence-sharing pact to deepen defense ties and enhance maritime security. The proposed military intelligence pact aims to securely exchange classified defense and security information.

Witnessed by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the talks underscore recent defense milestones including a signed acquisition and cross-servicing agreement for logistical support and efforts to supply the Philippine military with Japanese-transferred defense equipment.
