Suspected spray attack in Tokyo shopping complex leaves more than 20 ill

Tokyo police said 25 people are feeling unwell after a pungent odor was reported at a shopping complex in the Ginza district. Authorities said they received a report around noon on Monday of a foul smell at the Ginza Six shopping complex, and people complaining of symptoms such as coughing.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found 25 men and women who said they had sore throats and other conditions. A total of 19 were taken to hospitals for treatment. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is investigating eyewitness reports of a man spraying a substance around a bank's ATM section near the entrance on the first floor.
