Japanese navy launches JS Natori frigate

The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force launched its ninth Mogami-class stealth frigate, JS Natori (FFM-9), in Nagasaki on Thursday.

Powered by a Combined Diesel and Gas system, the vessel features vertical launching systems, and anti-ship missile launchers, with future upgrades slated for long-range Type 12 missiles. Named after the Natori River in Miyagi Prefecture, this advanced, highly automated vessel focuses on cutting-edge surveillance and multirole capabilities.
