Northern India swelters as temperatures hit record highs

India is currently sweltering under an unrelenting heatwave with record-breaking temperatures mostly in northern regions.

The Banda district recently hit a sweltering 48 C, marking it as one of the hottest spots in the country. The national capital New Delhi is reeling under extreme conditions while certain suburbs and base stations have recorded staggering temperatures between 44.9 C and 45.8 C. These regions consistently crossing the mark and prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue severe red and orange weather alerts.
