Sports Sector: Smart School and Football Projects in Meiktila

Union Minister for Sports U Ye Myint Tun on Wednesday visited Meiktila Township in Mandalay Region to review the implementation of the 100-Day Plan, including Smart School and Football for School pilot projects.

The Union Minister, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Myo Kyaw Thu and officials, inspected training sessions in football, volleyball, and tennis, observing coaches teaching a total of 149 students. He also provided energy drinks to support young athletes and encouraged coordination between departments to promote sports development and training in schools.

Later, the Union Minister inspected the newly completed synthetic running track at the district sports ground, ensuring its long-term maintenance for quality training. He also inspected football fields, covered gyms, and met staff to emphasize regular youth sports activities, proper field maintenance, and provision of necessary sports equipment. The visit aimed to strengthen sports infrastructure, support youth talent development, and ensure sustainable operation of sports facilities in Meiktila.
