During a media briefing on Tuesday, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Health Minister called for internationals aid to help fight Ebola outbreak while the death toll reached 136. According to the minister, sequencing results suggested the currently circulating virus came from the forest, describing it as a new forest-origin contamination rather than the resurgence of an older viral chain.

The DRC minister also acknowledged community resistance in some affected areas, as some families initially believed the illness was caused by a mystical force rather than a virus, delaying alerts and contributing to the spread of the disease.
