A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said China and the United States have agreed to hold intergovernmental talks on artificial intelligence at the China-US summit held in Beijing last week. Guo Jiakun made the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday.

He said China and the US, as two leading AI powers, need to work together to promote the development and improve the governance of AI. Guo also said Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump had constructive exchanges about AI at their summit and agreed to launch government-to-government dialogue on AI.
