Farmers' Technical Seminar: 109th Farmers' Technical Seminar held in Yezin

The 109th Farmers' Technical Seminar was held on the morning of May 14 at the assembly hall of the Department of Agricultural Research in Yezin, Nay Pyi Taw. Experts discussed the topic "Methods to Reduce Fertilizer Use without Affecting Crop Yields."

 

At the seminar, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Ye Tint Tun delivered the opening speech. He emphasized that combining research, technology, and farmers' practical experiences is crucial for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. He urged all attendees to work together to strengthen technology exchange between ministry experts and farmers.

 

Subsequently, Director of the Department of Agricultural Research Dr. Ni Ni Tint discussed methods for combined use of chemical and organic fertilizers, fertilizer application using the "4 Right" (4R) system, using leaf color charts for urea application in paddy crops, reducing losses through split application of urea, foliar application of urea and boron, the use of green manure and bio-fertilizers, crop rotation methods, and the application of alternate wetting and drying (AWD) irrigation systems.

 

The farmers actively and enthusiastically discussed these presentations, and the Deputy Minister coordinated and facilitated the discussion, it’s learnt.
