U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects “good things” from talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and insists Iran “cannot have a nuclear weapon,” while claiming Iran’s military has been defeated and the blockade remains effective.

Speaking to reporters, Trump described Xi as “relatively good” and said the two leaders have a strong relationship. The U.S. president said the blockade against Iran has been “100 percent effective” and dismissed concerns that domestic financial pressures were influencing negotiations. Trump added that he believes the outcome of the standoff will ultimately benefit both Americans and the Iranian people.
