The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed seven cases of Hantavirus linked to a suspected outbreak on a cruise ship. It recommends that all passengers and crew isolate at home or in specialized facilities for 42 days following disembarkation as a precaution.

The WHO maintains that the risk to the general public from the virus is low. The ship arrived at Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands on Sunday. Passengers disembarked amid strict infection control measures. The WHO has released preliminary infection control guidelines.
