Re-entering Legal Fold: 7 AA members and 24 PDF members entered legal fold

Thirty-one men who belonged to the AA group and a group of so-called PDF, having come to understand the peace processes of the State and the Tatmadaw, have again entered the legal fold along with weapons and ammunition. In the morning on May 11th, at the Ayeyawady Hall of the Southwest Command, Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, Region Hluttaw Speaker U Thein Tun, Commander of the Southwest Command Brigadier General Aung Kyaw Khaing, and responsible officials handed over to their parents and guardians seven AA members from Thandwe, Mrauk-U, Maungdaw, and Rathedaung townships in Rakhine State, and from Phyapon Township in Ayeyawady Region, along with a total of 24 male individuals claiming to be PDF members from Pathein Township, Ngapudaw Township, Ngayoke Kaung Town, Kyangin Township, Lemyaethna Township, Ingapu Township, Yay Kyi Township, Mawlamyinegyun Township in Ayeyawady Region, and from Amarapura Township in Mandalay Region.

At the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister delivered a speech, and the Commander explained and discussed educational information regarding legal provisions. Afterwards, those who had re-entered the legal fold handed over the weapons and ammunition they had brought with them including three MA-1 rifles, two M-22 rifles, one hand grenade, 338 rounds of ammunition, and six magazines which the Commander accepted.

Subsequently, the Region Chief Minister and the Commander presented cash rewards totaling 34.6 million kyats, consisting of 25 million kyats for five MA-series rifles, 3 hundred thousand kyats for the hand grenade, and 9.3 million kyats for the individuals entering the legal fold. After having them sign the pledge documents, they were handed back over to their parents and guardians, it’s learnt.
