“The government has been implementing policies aimed at raising and improving the standard of national sports. Success can only be achieved when sports enthusiasts and the entire public cooperate and participate together with the responsible authorities. Students are encouraged to strive with perseverance, diligence, and determination until they become national selection athletes,” said Kayah State Chief Minister U Ant Maw at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Summer Advanced Sports Training Course, held Monday morning at Indoor Stadium No. (3), in Daw-U Khu Ward, Loikaw.

The Chief Minister further stated that the training program was being organized with positive objectives, including enabling young people to become healthy, physically strong, and highly skilled athletes through participation in their preferred sports; nurturing patriotism and correct thinking; developing youth who are well-rounded in the five strengths; and helping students make productive use of their summer holidays.

Afterward, the Chief Minister presented sports equipment and cash awards for the students’ drum and bugle corps.

The advanced summer sports training course will be conducted from May 11 to 29, with 287 male and female trainees participating in six different sports disciplines, it’s reported.
