Electricity and Energy: MOEE Union Minister inspects work undertakings

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, along with officials, visited Ye Ywa Hydropower Plant in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay on 9th May.

At the briefing hall, officials reported on the surveillance on the dam, maintenance works, surveying to install Hydraulic Elevated Dam (HED) in spillway and new hydropower projects along Myitnge basin including upper Ye Ywa project. Upon the reports, the Union Minister stressed for systematic process of design, estimation and modeling test for HED and emergence of hydropower projects in Myitnge basin areas.

The Union Minister later inspected the facility and strength of the dam. At the 500-KV Main Sub-Station Project in Maikhtila Township, officials reported on the progress of installation of sub-stations and power cable lines, distribution of electricity to lower Myanmar and challanges.

The Union Minister stated that since 500-KV Power line system is of paramount important for distribution of electricity to lower Myanmar, it is necessary to complete promptly in line with the set standard, with constant maintenance.  Later, they inspected the project site and fulfilled the requirements presented by staff.
