China pledges bigger role in Middle East peace efforts

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Friday that his country has pledged a greater role in restoring peace in the Middle East, highlighting on fostering Iran-US dialogue. Guided by President Xi Jinping’s April 2026 framework, Lin stressed that China advocates for a permanent ceasefire and humanitarian access, and is utilizing its position as a major buyer of Iranian oil to push for diplomatic solutions over conflict.
