Ahead of a Trump-Xi summit, Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday met with a US Senate delegation led by Steve Daines, focusing on economic stability and AI safety, amid rising tensions over trade and AI technology.

During the meeting, Li recalled that the phone talks between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in February provided strategic guidance on promoting development of China-US relations. He noted that China stands ready to work together with the US to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.

He also hopes that the US side will work with China in the same direction and have more mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to maintain a stable and predictable China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
