Foreign and Economic Ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met in Cebu, Philippines on May 7, to address the region’s “urgent priorities,” with the Middle East conflict, energy security, food supply risks, and economic stability dominating discussions.

The meetings were held ahead of the 48th ASEAN Summit under the Philippine chairmanship, themed “Navigating Our Future, Together.” Officials emphasized the need for coordinated regional action as the war in the Middle East continues to disrupt oil supplies and global trade routes.
