
A ceremony to provide financial assistance to households whose homes were damaged by heavy rains and strong winds on the evening of April 7 was held in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, in the morning on April 8th.
The event was attended by Nay Pyi Taw Council Members Colonel Ye Moe, U Myint Soe, and U Khin Maung Latt, along with relevant officials and members of the households whose homes were partially damaged by the severe weather.
During the ceremony, Colonel Ye Moe expressed his deep sympathy for the families affected by the natural disaster. He stated that they had come to offer encouragement, to help alleviate the public's hardships as quickly as possible on behalf of the state government, and to initiate rehabilitation efforts. He assured that relevant authorities would work together to repair the damaged homes promptly and urged the public to closely heed natural disaster warnings during the seasonal transition period. U Myint Soe also delivered comforting words of encouragement to the families whose homes were impacted by the strong winds.
Following that, Nay Pyi Taw Council Members Colonel Ye Moe and U Myint Soe personally handed over financial aid to the disaster-stricken families, providing 50,000 Kyats per household. The financial assistance had also been provided to the family of a victim who tragically died after being struck by lightning during the severe weather in Lewe Township.
The heavy rain and strong winds in Dekkhinathiri Township in the evening of April 7 resulted in the roofs of 28 houses being blown off and damaged, it’s reported.
