PM Wong says healthy competition between HK and Singapore benefits global trade

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met with Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee at Government House in Hong Kong on Friday.

During the meeting, Wong said that the occasional rivalry between Singapore and Hong Kong is a healthy one that ultimately benefits wider global trade. He added that ties between both cities are more important than ever in a world where barriers are going up and Singapore looks forward to closer collaboration with Hong Kong.

This visit marked Lawrence Wong's first trip to Hong Kong as prime minister, noting that his last official visit was in 2019 when he was still a minister.
