Sri Lanka was repatriating on Friday the remains of 84 Iranian sailors who perished by a US submarine, the Foreign Ministry said. The seamen were killed when Iranian IRIS Dena was torpedoed on March 4th off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The ministry spokesman said all domestic procedures for dead bodies carried by trucks have been completed and the 32 sailors who were rescued by Sri Lankan navy will remain in the country. Sri Lankan officials also said there were not yet discussions on repatriating the Bushehr crew and those rescued from Dena, but they will be treated in line with Colombo’s treaty obligations.
