The Kachin State Government met with officials from the Buga Company on the morning of February 24 at the State Government Office meeting hall to coordinate efforts for increasing electricity distribution to Myitkyina and Mohnyin Districts.

During the coordination meeting, State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan highlighted the current energy challenges stating that electricity is currently supplied solely from the Chibwe Nge hydropower plant. As a result, power can only be distributed to Myitkyina and Mohnyin Districts in groups for approximately 6 hours per day. Efforts must be made to relocate and construct a 2.8-mile stretch of 66 kV power line to enable the re-transmission of power from Buga Company’s Mali source. Once this power is secured, electricity distribution to Myitkyina and Waingmaw townships will significantly improve, meeting the primary needs of the public.

Next, the State Minister for Natural Resources U Taint Saung, State Head of the Electricity Supply Enterprise U Khant Htet, Peace Negotiation Committee member U Lamai Khun Ja, and Buga Company officials presented their respective sectoral reports. The Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct field inspections, calculate costs for the new 2.8-mile line, and cooperate to ensure public convenience.

Following the power sector meeting, the Chief Minister held a meeting with Commander of the North Command Major General Aung Zaw Htwe, senior military officers, state government members, and district administrative chairmen at the Malikha Hall.

The meeting focused on the successful implementation of the Grade-12 Matriculation Examination. The Chief Minister delivered the opening address and coordinated across various sectors to provide the necessary support and logistics to ensure the exams are conducted smoothly, it’s reported.
