Toll in Indian coal mine blast climbs to 23

Death toll from an explosion at an illicit coal mine in Meghalaya State of northeast India rose to 23 on Friday, according to local authorities.

The explosion ripped through a so-called rat-hole mine on Thursday in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya." They recovered four more bodies today and will resume rescue operations again the next day," senior district official told the reporters. District Police Chief said that the explosion was likely caused by a dynamite blast.
