Renovation Works : Roads repair works along Yangon-Mandalay Expressway

Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, accompanied by Directors-General and departmental officials, on Friday inspected the renovation of roads and bridges on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway (Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay Road Section), which was damaged by Mandalay earthquake.

At the 180 ft long Thamin Hlwaeyoe  Creek bridge, the Union Minister inspected the renovation work and asphalt concrete paving on the bridge approach road.

At the 600 ft long Myint Soot  Creek Bridge, the Union Minister heard reports on arrangement to provide transportation access, constructing temporary bailey bridge, major maintenance works and implementation to construct approach roads. The Union Minister instructed officials to follow SOP, to meet set standard for long term durability and to complete the renovation works in specific time frame.

Then, the Union Minister inspected the construction of new bridge near 700 ft long Dattawadi Bridge. An official reported on damages, completion of pre-engineering process for new bridge construction, bored pile construction process and future work plans.

The Union Minister gave necessary instructions for timely completion of bridge construction to provide smooth transportation access to the locals, urging the related officials to systematically supervise the construction process.

The Union Minister later inspected bored pile construction process. The old Dattawadi  Bridge was collapsed due to March 28th Mandalay Earthquake and currently, construction works are being carried out using ERADI Quake Bearing Technology to withstand the earthquake.

The Union Minister and party later inspected renovation and paving asphalt concrete roads between Dattawadi Bridge and Mandalay Takontaing  roundabout on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway and gave necessary instructions.
