Coordination Meeting : Draft Plan to implement AEC Strategy (2026–2030)

A coordination meeting on the draft implementation plan for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026–2030 was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.

In her opening  remarks, Union Minister Dr Wah Wah Maung said Myanmar continues to work closely with ASEAN and has formed committees to implement AEC initiatives. She noted that ASEAN has adopted the ASEAN Vision 2045, approved at the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur in May 2025.

She explained that the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030 is the first five-year plan under Vision 2045 and includes 25 sectors, each with sectoral plans. The draft implementation plan was prepared based on these sectors and will be treated as a flexible living document, updated with inputs from ministries.

The Union Minister urged ministries to coordinate closely, report challenges in a timely manner, and work together to ensure national interests amid changing geopolitical and economic conditions, saying the ministry stands ready to support implementation.

This was followed by a detailed briefing on past AEC implementation and the new draft plan. Officials from relevant ministries later discussed committee structures, responsibilities, and future work plans.
